Sequences collaborates with Center for Contemporary Art Estonia

Sequences has entered an informal collaboration with the Center for Contemporary Art in Estonia. The aim is to create a link between each edition of Sequences, build on knowledge, connections and experience created at each Sequences festival.

Three Estonian artists have been invited to exhibit at Sequences VII which is the first step in the collaboration. The partnership is intended for the two small art scenes to empower each other and collectively seeking increased visibility in the international art scene.

The collaboration is an offspring of the visit of Maria Arusoo, the director of the CCA Estonia, who visited Iceland early 2014 to explore the local art scene. She visited numerous artists, artist run spaces, galleries, museums and got a good insight into the art scene in Iceland. Following her visit, the conversation developed and mutual interests and goals came to light. And  the chemistry was just there so it felt like a natural to embark on this journey together!

Maria introduced us to Alfredo Cramerotti who was invited as the artistic director of Sequences VII, followed by the visit of Edda Halldórsdóttir and Edda K. Sigurjónsdóttir to Tallinn were they explored the local art scene.
