DayBreak, Forever – a sound installation by Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson

Prev | Next /

In the midst of winterdarkness in Reykjavík lures a soundinstallation, DayBreak, Forever by Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson. This version 3.1 was installed in a small comfort zone by the harbour in Reykjavík on the occasion of Sequences 10th Anniversary on November 19th and is to be open 24 h, while the earth travels one round about the sun, until November 2017.

The sound-dome ceaselessly emits the sounds of the daybreak. The installation switches between 30 live audio-streams from open microphones placed at various locations around the globe. In every instant it chooses the one located closest to the day breaking so that the listener can hear the steady soundtrack of the day breaking, in real-time, night and day, every day.

Guests are welcome to visit and absorb the eternal sunrise anytime of the day/night.
