Contemporary symbols and historic icons find their way into Ísleifsdóttir’s practice, and she likes to throw into confusion established meanings and values in culture. Her work is often performative, where the normal and irrelevant becomes loaded with new significance. Her new work is a symbolic gesture, a performative pun, inspired by, and aimed at, the real time connotation of the art festival.
