Hrólfsdóttir was born in Reykjavik 1973. She studied at The Icelandic Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik and the Pratt Institute in New York. She is currently studying philosophy at The University of Iceland. She is a member of the art collective, The Icelandic Love Corporation, and currently lives in Reykjavik.
Working in different media, Hrólfsdóttir explores the intangible realm of emotions. With the use of animal, vegetative and other natural imagery, together with a distinct feel for colour and texture, she conjures up characters and sets where situations and relations are played out. In her new work she plays with the idea of a visual and material manifestation of the inner being.
