Magnússon constantly finds different playful ways to insert the most mundane things and events into the framework of art. As a conceptual painter, he plays with the subtle gradient of colours drawn from quite specific materials from daily life, or he captures in video colour dripping and mixing in puddles. In his digital works he pulls or stretches casual images of a body part or a household object, enlarges them and prints them to fit the walls and areas of the exhibition space. The artist’s daily grocery shopping is the subject of his new work, where different time spent on this repetitive task is either dragged out or condensed to fit a given frame.
