Pushing Time & Hustle and Bustle – performance VIDEOS

  • From Eva Ísleifsdóttir's performance Pushing Time

Following are documentations from two performances on Sequences VI:

Hustle and Bustle by Eygló Harðardóttir and Ríkharður H. Friðriksson

Visual artist Harðardóttir and composer Friðriksson joined forces in the video and sound work ‘Hustle and Bustle’, which was performed during twilight and into the night Saturday April 6th. It is made from the images and sounds of Indian traffic. The recordings were made in South India and reflect the hustle, bustle and turbulence of the colourful ocean of the Indian people. The performance was be open-air, inside the work ‘Afterimages’ by Harðardóttir, situated in the Sculpture Garden next to the Reykjavík Sculpture Association.

Hustle and Bustle II (at the Sculpture Garden) from Rikhardur H. Fridriksson on Vimeo.

Pushing Time by Eva Ísleifsdóttir

Contemporary symbols and historic icons find their way into Ísleifsdóttir’s practice, and she likes to throw into confusion established meanings and values in culture. Her work is often performative, where the normal and irrelevant becomes loaded with new significance. Her new work, performed on Skólavörðuholt, Sunday April 14th, is a symbolic gesture, a performative pun, inspired by, and aimed at, the real time connotation of the art festival.
